Purchase this service to get your straight razor refurbished.
Included in baseline restoration:
- Your blade will be polished with several abrasives to produce an even and polished look.
- This polishing will remove all visible active rust/tarnish on surface of the blade.
- Your blade will be waxed in order to add a protective barrier to the steel.
- Scales will be cleaned, lightly polished and waxed.
- Shipped back to you after services are performed.
This service is ideal for straight razors that need to be cleaned up for use, or your heirloom that needs careful restoration.
After your purchase, you’ll be sent a mailing address to ship your razor. You ship it to me, and I carefully bring your razor back to new. After the refurbishing process, I’ll ship back to you, and you’ll be given tracking information on your package.
Upon arrival your blade will be carefully inspected, and a restoration plan will be formed.
To restore your blade, I use cool-water wet hand sanding, wheel buffing with a water-cooled process, and a low-temp, abrasive media vibration polishing.
My methods have been specially developed to preserve the temper of your blade. This temper is a special heat treatment to increase steel toughness, and gives your vintage carbon steel the ability to get shave sharp, and stay shave sharp. By using cool, or chilled polishing methods, you preserve this temper, and ensure your blade will retain ideal sharpness characteristics.

I have decided to send you my heirloom, My grandfather migrated to the U.S. from Cuba at the age of 36 in 1955 he continued his trade of Barber till 1974. He passed away in 1997 thereafter the razor was put a way till now. Note the sign that reads “$1.00 haircut”. A fine price for an expert trim. I figured you might appreciate a piece of the history behind this Duble Duck Goldedge straight razor.
The vintage photos of his grandfather were kindly shared with me, and illustrate the history behind the blade.
Ducks are always a challenging restoration. The cracked ice scales often deteriorate over time, and the blades, so thin, often have little room for removing age. I put a nice satin polish on the blade, reset the scales, and took the brass to a shine. With some careful restoration, I’m confident it has many generations of life left in it.

Christopher has turned lead in to gold! This was found at a flea market and was more rust than razor. When I got it back it was restored up great, a little pitted (to be expected under the circumstances) but I’ve shaved with it and have no complaints.
