This Kamisori has a vicious profile, but is carefully sculpted on the anvil and grinder to feel smooth and sturdy in the hand, and keen on the shave.
Despite the rough looks, the sharpened bevel is set like all my other razors: shave ready starting on a 1,000 grit Japanese water stone, and honed all the way up upon grits (3K, 5K, 8K) and finished on a rare Yellow Green Escher Barber’s delight. Finally, I strop on U.S.A. tanned bridle leather, and ship it home for a lifetime of smooth shave.
As a craftsman, I get to control every element of the process, and love how such a chunk of rough looking steel shaves closer and smoother than some of the most elegant razors I’ve made.
