This Japanese style straight razor is named “Yūrei-zu” after the traditional japanese art featuring ethereal spirits of lore. I named my blades after this because the translucent and holographic layers of gold and brown patina have a haunted and spiritual look, reminiscent of japanese ink abstracts atop weathered paper.
This Kamisori (pronounced kamee-sori – カミソリ) is a design that I offer in a variety of leather wrappings and tip shapes. The grind on these razors is symmetrical, so the razor can be used in either hand with ease.
Each of these kamisori are hand forged one at a time, with respect to traditional Japanese razor smithing.
The blade hollows have a fine polish, with one side proudly stamped with my maker’s mark. The handles have been formed by hammer and anvil, forged to the appearance seen above, and the blade spine is polished smooth, making stropping a breeze.
Each kamisori is 100% unique, and no two share the exact same handle pattern, though the blade is ground to exact precision.
