Each of these kamisori (pronounced kamee-sori – カミソリ) are hand forged one at a time, with respect to traditional Japanese razor smithing.
The blade hollows have a fine polish, with one side proudly stamped with my maker’s mark (this side is called the ura). The handles have been formed by hammer and anvil, forged to the appearance seen above, and the blade spine is polished smooth, making stropping a breeze.
Each kamisori is 100% unique, and no two share the exact same handle pattern, though the blade is ground to exact precision.
Blades are shipped secured to the simple basswood plank as shown. While this is mainly for shipping purposes, this can be used to keep your razors edge protected when stored in a drawer, or you can mount it to a wall for display (store with the “ShaveSmith” side up, as shown). For additional protecting, the firescale “blacksmith’s” finish ( called kurouichi ) is protected with a wax.
These are high performance, all-steel shaving blades, honed to perfection on traditional Japanese water stones to 30,000 grit.
This blade is a right handed kamisori, where you shave using the non-shavesmith marked side against your face. If you’d like a left handed version, let me know via my custom order button.
This razor has passed the high-standard shave test, and then washed with soap and warm water, bathed in disinfecting Barbacide, and bathed in 90% isopropyl alcohol. The razor is treated with a with a long-lasting moisture barrier to ensure rust resilience during use, and shipped with a light coat of antibacterial paraffin.
